Job Description

As a RF Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, optimization, and customization of radio frequency (RF) systems and components for telemetry applications. Leveraging your expertise in RF Design Engineering, you will play a key role in ensuring reliable, efficient, and high-performance wireless communication between remote sensors, devices, and data acquisition systems. This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver innovative telemetry solutions across diverse industries.

Key Responsibilities

    RF System Design and Development

    • Design and develop RF transmitters, receivers, antennas, and other components tailored for telemetry applications.
    • Create RF circuit schematics and layouts, considering factors such as frequency range, power efficiency, and communication distance.
    • Collaborate with hardware and software teams to seamlessly integrate RF systems into telemetry products.

    RF Testing and Validation

    • Perform comprehensive RF testing using equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and signal generators.
    • Conduct link budget analyses and propagation studies to optimize signal strength, range, and reliability.
    • Identify, analyze, and resolve RF-related issues to enhance telemetry system performance.

    Telemetry Protocols and Communication Standards

    • Demonstrate deep expertise in telemetry protocols, wireless communication standards, and modulation/demodulation techniques.
    • Implement, test, and optimize telemetry protocols to ensure efficient and secure data transmission and reception.

    EMI/EMC Compliance

    • Conduct electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Design and implement mitigation strategies to minimize interference and maintain robust system performance.

    Simulation and Modelling

    • Utilize advanced RF simulation tools to model, analyze, and validate RF designs, optimizing key performance parameters such as gain, bandwidth, and noise figure.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner with firmware engineers to ensure seamless integration between RF hardware and telemetry software platforms.
    • Work closely with mechanical engineers to design and incorporate RF components within compact and rugged telemetry devices

    Documentation and Reporting

    • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and performance reports.
    • Support project documentation and provide technical input for both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Skill & Experience

    Experience:

     2–4 years of hands-on experience in RF engineering, preferably focused on telemetry or wireless communication systems.

    Technical Expertise:

    • Proficiency in RF simulation and modelling tools (e.g., ADS, HFSS, CST, or similar).
    • Strong familiarity with RF test and measurement equipment, including spectrum analysers, network analysers, and signal generators.
    • Solid understanding of telemetry protocols, wireless communication standards, and modulation/demodulation techniques.
    • Proven experience in RF system design, link budget analysis, and propagation modelling.
    • Working knowledge of EMI/EMC testing, regulatory compliance, and relevant industry standards.
